In the recovery section, I have outlined how I can deal with students who are "stepping out of boundary or not meeting expectations" (Villa, Thousand and Nevins 2010). In my philosophy of education of perennialism, I want all of my students to be engaged in learning the great works of the past and feel comfortable in my classroom. I will allow my students to bring up their opinions, but they must be able to take criticism from other students, and back up their statements with research. If a student is acting out and getting in trouble, I want to work on healing that students within the classroom to re-establish that sense of community and to help the child re-discover their love for learning. I do not simply want to send the child to the principals office, or give them detention. I want to get to the root of the problem and hope to facilitate healing. Listed below are some ways I hope to establish Recovery within my classroom.
